Job Description
Title: ISBCC Sunday School Teacher
Position Summary:
The teacher provides Quran, Arabic Language, and Islamic Studies instruction to students in a single or multi-grade class (K-12), using an approved curriculum. The teacher creates an educational atmosphere where students are given the opportunity to reach their potential as knowledgeable, productive Muslims.
Working Conditions:
In-person / on-site.
Job Responsibilities:
- Plans and delivers lessons based on the approved curriculum, adapting content and resources to fit varying student backgrounds, learning styles, and needs.
- Maintains an engaging, safe, and nurturing classroom environment, enforcing discipline per ISBCC policy.
- Sets weekly goals for teaching Islamic values and models spiritual maturity to guide students' growth.
- Instills respect, order, and self-discipline while encouraging curiosity and innovation..
- Organizes age-appropriate extracurricular activities tied to Islamic events and holidays.
- Completes grading, lesson plans, and report cards, and conducts parent conferences in a timely manner.
- Communicates regularly with students, parents, and staff, and supports students with additional help as needed.
- Meets professional obligations (deadlines, schedules, coordination) and attends staff training.
- Suggests improvements to curriculum, policies, and methodologies.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma with formal training in Arabic language, Islamic Studies, and Quran knowledge/education, and a minimum of 4 years of teaching experience; or Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 2 years of similar teaching experience.
- Strong knowledge of the Islamic religion, Quran, and Arabic language.
- Ability to teach Quran recitation with explanation of the Surah.
- Previous teaching experience preferred (teaching experience in an Islamic school or weekend school is a plus), especially with children and youth.
- Excellent communication and classroom management skills.
- Ability to create engaging, age-appropriate learning experiences.
- Familiarity with modern teaching methods and student-centered learning approaches.
- Strong organizational skills and reliability.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Fluency in English (Arabic is a plus).
- Deep understanding of and commitment to the ISB’s mission and the values of the Muslimcommunity it serves.
How to apply:
