- A Muslim person slaughters the animal allowing blood to drain out of the body completely.
- The person who slaughtered the animal prays over the animal with words of praise to God saying Bismillah (i.e. In the Name of God). When you see restaurants who sell meat with the sign Halal is posted somewhere on their building or website, this means that the animal went through the ritual mentioned above.
