    Wonder what "Halal" means?

      The word Halal is an Arabic word that describes that something is permissible in the Islamic tradition. In the case of food, especially meat, the meat is considered Halal when these two things happen:

    • A Muslim person slaughters the animal allowing blood to drain out of the body completely.
    • The person who slaughtered the animal prays over the animal with words of praise to God saying Bismillah (i.e. In the Name of God).

      • When you see restaurants who sell meat with the sign Halal is posted somewhere on their building or website, this means that the animal went through the ritual mentioned above. We are celebrating the Greater Boston Area's Halal restaurants owned by members of our community.
