Job Description

Title: Youth Coordinator

Function: Programming

Reports to: Programs and Office Manager

Position Summary:

The Youth Coordinator is responsible for organizing, developing, and implementing engaging and innovative programs, events and activities for youth at ISB (both Roxbury and Cambridge location), in collaboration with the ISB team. The primary target of these programs are high school and college students (ages 12-21 approx.). The programs will be mission-focused and support the diverse needs and interests of Youth while engaging them meaningfully at the mosques. To excel as a Youth Coordinator, you need some experience and understanding of working with related target audiences from diverse backgrounds, resourcefulness, and willingness to take initiative.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Conduct focus groups, surveys, and listening sessions with the relevant community members and create a yearlong schedule for relevant activities, programs, and events (at least 3x per month), including major Muslim community events and holidays like Ramadan, Eid, etc.
  • Design activities and events to scale, organize, and execute Youth activities at both locations.
  • Create, plan, organize, and execute activities based on the calendar.
  • Monitor and evaluate effectiveness of youth programs.
  • Manage marketing, outreach, and communication for youth programs in both locations.
  • Develop and execute social media strategy focused on youth.
  • Create a database, develop partnerships, and collaborate with program participants, other local and national youth-serving organizations, neighboring masjids, potential youth focused speakers, relevant stakeholders, and  government offices to enhance access opportunities for Youth and community.
  • Create, lead, and manage a community based Youth committee.
  • Recruit, cultivate, and retain local youth for program participation with emphasis on ISB Cambridge.

    How to apply:

    This is a part-time position, working up to 20 hours per week across 3–4 days, including Saturday and Sunday. The schedule will be split between ISB Cambridge and ISBCC.     Job Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree (fresh graduates or about to graduate can also apply) and at least 1-year related experience (relevant internships, volunteer, or community work counts) 
    • Must have a thorough understanding of and commitment to support Youth and community challenges and needs 
    • Solid organizational, problem-solving, time management, and follow-up skills 
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills 
    • Demonstrated ability to build positive community relationships and partnerships
    • Ability to multitask and work independently with minimal managerial supervision 
    • Proficiency with Google Suite, social media marketing techniques, MailChimp, and Meta Business 
    • Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without employer sponsorship
    • Available to attend meetings and events during the weekend and evening
