We thank you for your interest in conducting your marriage ceremony at the Islamic Society of Boston. We are thrilled to be your host on one of your biggest days in this life and we appreciate your trust in us. Congratulations to you & your future spouse! However, we as a Masjid have requirements for hosting any Nikah Ceremony. The following are the requirements:
For the bride and Groom:
- Groom must be a Muslim. Reverts need to show a Certificate of Islam and live Muslim a minimum of a month to know the basic teachings of Islam and show understanding!
- Divorced previously or Widower? You must bring documentation either from the Court or Masjid who conducted divorce or bring a death certificate for the previous spouse from authentic sources!
- Both Groom and Bride are required to bring legal government issued documents for the Marriage Ceremony
- Prospective Spouses must bring a marriage license from City of Residence (Civil).
- Groom must bring 2 Muslim Male Witnesses at the Marriage Ceremony.
- Bride Must bring a Wali (Father, if not Brother, if not grand-father, if not uncle) in that order. If the father is alive nobody else could take his place. NO EXCEPTION.
- If the Wali is living outside of the US, you must provide his Passport Bio Page or Birth Certificate & accept that we are going to report this marriage to your country's embassy!
- We prefer that the Wali is Present. However, if not able, he can join through zoom or
Whatsapp Video Call and have to show Documents showing his identity - Both Groom and Bride must attend Premarital Counseling (45 minutes) one week prior to the Nikah Ceremony, either in person or via Zoom Video Call.
Logistics and Fees:
- Groom must pay $250 for Marriage Documentation Donation / $350 for more than 8 and less than 20 guests present at the ceremony.
- You are required Rental Hall Reservation for more than 20 guests with extra charges
- Please make Checks payable to: Islamic Society of Boston, Cash is the last resort
