Role Purpose This position will administer ISB stakeholders’ relationships, business development, and Fundraising initiatives. Under the direction of the CEO, this position will develop goals and strategies for all community relations and fundraising campaigns. This position will meet with ISB stakeholders, donors, and prospective donors to create and foster relationships. The Development and Events Director will create a balanced funding mix of donor sources and solicitation programs tailored to the needs of the organization as it implements its strategy to fulfil its mission and realize its vision.

Development and Fundraising Management Responsibilities
  • Will be responsible for achieving the ISB fundraising goals and engaging sponsors in ongoing service activities
  • leverage key relationships and contacts within and outside of the Greater Boston Area
  • Create and implement annual development plan and strategy
  • Lead and manage ISB overall development efforts to raise an annual budget set forth by the CEO
  • Train and lead other staff to support fundraising and marketing efforts
  • Cultivate and nurture relationships with current and potential corporate & foundation sponsors, and individual donors
  • Write grant proposals and reports to corporate, foundation, and government funders
  • Develop and grow our individual donor base; manage annual giving campaign; cultivate major gifts
  • Develop and implement comprehensive marketing and public relations strategy
  • Work closely with the CEO to ensure that Fundraising goals are met
  • Build from current ISB donors foundation and fundraising and major gifts efforts, to rebuild trust and rapport with both internal and external constituents.
  • Develop a strong understanding of ISB mission and vision.
  • Understand the demographics of the community, dynamics of giving within the community, identify emerging opportunities and trends, and determine marketing mythologies to support development efforts.
  • Conduct face-to-face in person or virtual meetings or teleconferencing with potential major gift donors to seek sponsorships and support
Strategy Planning
  • Fully understand and be prepared to present ISB Vision, Mission and strategy
  • In collaboration with the Executive CEO, set specific organizational goals and outcomes.
  • Identify required resources to achieve the goals.
Advocacy Management
  • Engage in effective communications to maintain strong community relationships.
  • Promote community awareness of the organization’s vision, mission and strategic goals.
  • Develop and implement a communication and marketing plan that informs the community of the activities and direction of the organization.
Fundraising Events
  • Venue management for external and internal ISB fundraising events
  • Work closely with the Facilities & Operations Manager to coordinate proper arrangement for and securing of external space needs and scheduling of staff and/or volunteers to ensure that ISB fundraising events are handled in a professional and organized manner
  • Design, plan and execute fundraising events:
    • Develop overall experience and program.
    • Create pre-event and post-event marketing strategies to drive leads
    • Develop production calendar, work plans and team assignments.
    • Recruit and manage vendors and other service providers.
    • Coordinate talent preparation and participation.
    • Execute events either with in house or outsourced resources
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
Necessary knowledge, skills and experience
  • 5 years of mid to senior level management experience
  • Ability to coach staff, manage and develop high performance teams, set and achieve strategic objectives and manage a budget
  • Strong marketing, public relations, and fundraising experience
  • Excellent computer skills and proficient in excel, word, power point, and salesforce
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
  • Knowledge and experience in organizational effectiveness and management implementing best practices.
  • Demonstrated leadership and vision in managing staff groups and major projects or initiatives.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative management style.
  • Budget development and oversight experience
  • A demonstrated commitment to high professional ethical standards and a diverse workplace
  • Excels at operating in a fast pace, community environment
  • Excellent people manager, open to direction and collaborative work style and commitment to get the job done
  •  Ability to challenge and debate issues of importance to the organization.

Education and certification requirements §  Bachelor’s degree in Business related field

§  Certifications in Project Management a plus
