The Muslim Athletic League (MAL) is a non-profit organization based in Boston, MA that seeks to foster an environment of understanding and collaboration amongst people of all faiths and backgrounds through athletics and recreation, while simultaneously placing an emphasis on community service and character development. The MAL has been actively engaged in charitable work by holding fundraising basketball and soccer tournaments and working in coalition with notable organizations like Islamic Relief for a variety of humanitarian causes, including the Pakistan and Haiti natural disaster relief efforts.
In 2011, the MAL made large strides after launching full basketball seasons for Men and Youth. Indeed, in a short period of time, the MAL has generated a large loyal support base that represents a diverse array of communities in Massachusetts. Publicity of the league has grown to such an extent that other states have indicated interest for the league to expand beyond the borders of Massachusetts.
Currrently, MAL is preparing to launch full soccer seasons for the summer of 2011, and plans to include seasons for baseball and football in the near future. More importantly, the MAL is proud to announce the establishment of the Women’s MAL (WMAL), a league where women and girls can be actively engaged in recreational sports as well.
If you would like to join and register for MAL athletic events, please contact Afif at 617-247-2117. For general enquiries about our work and events, please call Odsen Hudson at 508-718-8749
